THE SMASHING PUMPKINS - ‘THE WORLD IS A VAMPIRE’ AUSTRALIAN TOUR
The Smashing Pumpkins are set to embark on The World Is A Vampire tour this April, spanning ten cities across the nation. But that's not all - the tour will feature some incredible special guests, including alt-rock legends Jane's Addiction and the killer Aussie rock of Amyl & The Sniffers, RedHook, Battlesnake, and local acts opening each show.
As if that wasn't enough, each show will also feature professional wrestling matches between Billy Corgan’s NWA (National Wrestling Alliance) and the WAOA (Wrestling Alliance of Australia).
The Smashing Pumpkins were a defining act of the 1990s, with commercial success and critical acclaim that earned them a place among the most influential acts in alternative rock. Their music features instantly recognizable hits such as Cherub Rock, Disarm, Tonight, Tonight, and Bullet With Butterfly Wings from their multi-platinum 1995 album Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness, which was the best-selling double album of the decade. Their latest releases, 2018’s Shiny and Oh So Bright and 2021’s Cyr, continue to showcase the band's unique, dense sound that combines rock, metal, psyche, shoegaze, and electronica.
The Pumpkins have sold over 30 million albums to date and have received numerous awards, including GRAMMYs, MTV VMAs, and American Music Awards. Their influence on rock music is immeasurable.
Joining them on tour, Jane's Addiction were one of the first bands from the alt-rock movement to achieve mainstream media attention and commercial success. Their first two studio albums, Nothing's Shocking and Ritual de lo Habitual, were released to widespread critical acclaim and gave us classics such as Mountain Song, Been Caught Stealing, and Stop! Their unique fusion of styles created a sound that has influenced nearly every sub-genre of rock music.
Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell is a cultural icon, having created the Lollapalooza Festival that brought alternative music to the masses from 1991 onwards.
The World Is A Vampire tour will also showcase some of Australia's most impressive rock music, making this a can't-miss event.
