Albert Hammond Jr Talking The Strokes Next Album

The Strokes Julian Casablancas & Albert Hammond Jr. - Rick Rubin

Albert Hammond Jr recently spoke to NME about his upcoming solo album, "Melodies on Hiatus." During the interview, he also gave some insight into what The Strokes have been up to lately.

Hammond Jr revealed that in addition to working on his solo album, he has been busy touring with The Strokes, who are scheduled to perform at several major festivals this summer. He also mentioned that the band has been recording in a studio in Costa Rica with the legendary producer Rick Rubin, who worked on their latest album, "The New Abnormal."

While some fans might hope that the recording sessions mean that a new Strokes album is in the works, Hammond Jr was careful not to make any promises. "I don't know what to say about it," he admitted. "I don't have any information on it. It's not like it's happening and I'm hiding something. We went and did a bunch of recordings. It could come out a year or two years from now – it's an unknown amount of time when it'll be finished but, yes, we are working on another record."

Fans of The Strokes will undoubtedly be thrilled to hear that the band is back in the studio, even if the timeline for a new album remains uncertain. The band's last album, "The New Abnormal," was released in 2020 to critical acclaim and marked a triumphant return for the group after a seven-year hiatus.

As for Hammond Jr's solo project, "Melodies on Hiatus”, the new single ‘100-99’ is out now. A physical edition is also up for pre-order with a full release set for June 23 via Red Bull Records.

Overall, it seems that Hammond Jr and The Strokes are keeping busy, both with their solo projects and their work as a band. Fans will undoubtedly be eager to see what the future holds for these talented musicians.
