Emerging from Victoria, BC, The Projectors have impressed us with their debut self-titled LP. Led by singer/songwriter Dylan Rysstad, the band's enthralling melodies and nostalgic sound have captivated listeners with songs that echo early Strokes.

That comparison to The Strokes is evident as you delve into their new album, though Rysstad is not shy to acknowledge his influences.

According to Rysstad, “With the first couple songs, ‘When the Lights Came Up’ and ‘Golden Age', I really embraced certain influences and didn’t try to obscure or hide the fact that it was starting to sound like someone else. The songs I’ve been writing for this project are what I want to be playing and listening to, and somewhat ironically, I feel like it’s the most ‘me’ if that makes sense”. That “someone else” Dylan is referring to is The Strokes.

Recorded at Layten Kramer's home studio, the album captures the band's raw energy. Despite pandemic setbacks, The Projectors persevered and fine-tuned their material for a standout release.

With further influences from The Velvet Underground to Franz Ferdinand, The Projectors' indie and garage rock sound evokes nostalgia while incorporating their unique style. Driving guitars and heartfelt lyrics define their captivating music.

The band comprises Dylan Rysstad on vocals and songwriting, along with Robbie Shirriff and Dustin Tiljoe on guitars, Conor Brandt on bass, and Evan Matthiesen on drums. Their collective experience enriches The Projectors' overall sound.

As The Projectors gain recognition, they have exciting plans for 2023, including festivals and tours, keep an eye out for future dates to be announced on The Projectors official social media pages.

The Projectors have established themselves in the indie rock scene with their self-titled debut LP. As they continue to create remarkable material and reach more listeners, The Projectors are poised to make a lasting impact in this scene, so if you’re thirsty for something new, check these guys out.
